~1 week ago my Palm Tungsten T3 died. I always treated the device hard (carrying around in my trouser pocket, in humid areas, ... so it wasn't really that unexpected.
I checked for replacements and ended up with a Palm Treo 680. There's a recent promo where a GPS is sent for free, so the deal seems pretty fine. Amazon did a great job again and two days later i got my new smartphone delivered. Even if the Treo is not that cool in the days of the iPhone i'm pretty satisfied until now.

Something i was guessing since a pretty long time now becomes more attention: all the biofuel hype is not worth a lot http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/06/big-bad-biofuels.php.
These days austria increases the precentage of biofuel in any gasoline, politicians tell us that this is to save the planed, agricultural groups say this is the future of farming - they're all so blind.....

as said i love google calendar for it's simple but powerful user interface and it's integration with gmail. what i really miss is synchronization with outlook and my palm t3.
vast numbers of users request a simple sync tool from google but they seem to be deaf and leave this basic functionality to 3rd parties. nasty!
if i find time i'll come up with a summary of my findings!

As already stated i'm Google addicted (too much).
- GMail is wonderful as i never loose any eMail (which i frequently did when i used e.g. GMX & a local eMail client).
- GCalendar is so well designed that i simply love it.
- GoogleReader is a pretty fine RSS reader.
- Picassa is the best free photo organizing software i know about (picasa web albums cannot reach flickr i have to admit).
- Blogger is what you're currently reading.
Today i have to praise GCalendar even more! RememberTheMilk and WeatherUnderground integrate tightly into it via iCal feeds which makes it even more usefull!

Some time (must have been ages) ago i recommended Yahoo! to everybody who's looking for a free one-stop-shop for web services (not in a technical meaning): Webmail, Calendar, Homepage (formerly Geocities), Groups (eGroups), Photosharing, etc...
But things have changed: Google - formerly a search engine only - catched up with gMail, gCalendar, Blogger, Picasa, Pages. And today i have to say that Picasa is pretty impressive. Some days ago i was looking for an easy way to organize, share, upload, blog, ... photos. For sure i have my Flickr account and Blogger too (as you can see), and i basically now how to deal with Photoshop, but that's all patchwork. I fired up Picasa - and that was the missing link.
Organize, upload, blog, print, mail, basic modification operations - everything from a single application. And everything is nicely integrated (Blogger, gMail, Picasa Web Album). You can love or hate Picasas user interface, but until now it's the most simple thing i know about to do the daily job. If you know something better please let me know.
I am aware that Google is somehow under discussion those days (Blake Ross) but this doesn't hold me to recommend some of their services.

Besides some other nice features Google Desktop 3 supports searching over multiple computers. To allow that even if another computer is shut down, documents are uploaded to Google's servers. Well, it's obvious that you need that to make that functionality real, but: who would really want to upload his private documents? Have they gone crazy? Or evil (Hint: Google's motto is "Do no evil").
I started to use more and more functionality from Google lately (gmail, desktop2, blogger, ...) but this really frightens me! Maybe i have to rethink my decision!

Haven't realized that, but i personally think "tagging" is a possible solution for "multi-dimensional information structuring". Del.icio.us, flickr (also mentioned in the articel) and even gmail's "filters" go beyond classical tree-like information structuring. And for me this makes them outstanding.

This time for the german (speaking) readers: There have been "Powerline" (Internet via Power Infrastructure) projects in a lot of cities. All of them (afaik) have been stopped. Just Linz AG thinks it can manage the troubles which forced others to give up. Hum.

Today i was asked to have a look at the two wlan internet service providers (wisp) who offer their services in Ried (where i live).
